What does this do?

This program updates the Palm Desktop™ for CLIÉ software and resolves the issue where the "C:\Program Files\Sony" folder opens automatically when the computer starts up. Note:  This issue only occurs when all of the following conditions exist on the computer:

• The Palm Desktop™ for CLIÉ software is installed in the default directory location.
• A "C:\Program Files\Sony" folder exists.
• The computer is installed with the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.

Important Notes

This utility is only for use with Palm Desktop™ for CLIÉ software included in the installation CD for the PEG-UX40 and PEG-UX50 CLIÉ handheld models. During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding. It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PDTREGISTRYUPDATE.EXE file. The program will run and the registry will be updated.

Confirm a Successful Installation

After completing installation, please confirm that the application was upgraded properly. Restart the computer and confirm that the "C:\Program Files\Sony" folder did not appear automatically. If the directory still appears, please download and install the PDTREGISTRYUPDATE.EXE file again.
